On the edge of the 19th century the modern movement flourished greatly. And life as we know it was gradually changing into a more globally united opened society. With that change a new rebellious art movement was born called “ Art Nouveau ’’.
Art Nouveau’s popularity submerged in Paris around
(1890-1910) this style defined modern art by challenging and rebelling against
traditional art in creating beauty in a time filled with grotesque and UGLY.
The style is mostly consisted of swirly
decorative organic lines, and the main focus in the portrait is the demonstrated
female, which somehow is portrayed in a seductive manner. It is a
representation of nature, sensuality and sex.
Art nouveau also known to be inspired from a
mid 17th century Japanese art called “Ukiyo-e” which means “picture
of the floating world”.
The major known veterans of art nouveau won
their creative freedom after this particular art became popular in the Parisian
region and was demonstrated in the "La
Maison Moderne’s" gallery. The chez artists Alphonse Mucha shocked art scholars
with his unique sense of artistic choice and many artists grew fond of his
style and got inspired to spread this décor in everything including
architecture across the region of Europe.
This style shapes our modern world in many
ways. From cartoon creations, architecture, fashion, to even furniture it was a
grate movement that defined the new age.
